Portland City Tour
The Portland City Tour can be arranged as either a morning or an
afternoon half day tour. Tours typically start at 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM
and are 3 to 4 hours long, but we're flexible! EcoTours of Oregon
will not only tell you the history and interesting facts of life in the
"City of Roses", we'll also talk about the free downtown public
transit, why we're known as one of the most "livable" cities in the
USA, and where some of the off- the-beaten-path restaurants, shops
and nightlife can be found.
1:00 PM Pick up at your hotel or residence. Drive through
uptown, downtown, Chinatown, and Old Towne, the Portland State
University area, as well as Pioneer Courthouse Square, the Park
Blocks, Waterfront Park, by Portlandia and some of Portland's many
fountains, bridges and parks.
2:40 PM Journey up to the Pittock Mansion, home of Henry
Pittock, the first publisher of the Oregonian Daily Newspaper. Walk
the grounds overlooking the city of Portland and enter if you wish to
see the lovely decor within this 16,000 square foot French Renaissance
Mansion. (admission not included).
3:35 PM Arrive at the International Rose Test Gardens for a
40-minute visit to view the 525 varieties of roses in the oldest public
rose garden in the United States.
4:30 PM Return to your hotel.
On weekends, you may choose to visit Portland's Saturday Market,
where hundreds of local craft vendors sell their wares in booths
beneath the Burnside Bridge, and ethnic food and music talent abound.
Other options during the Portland City Tour include a visit to
Washington Park attractions such as the Japanese Gardens, The
Chinese Gardens, the World Forestry Center, the Vietnam Veteran's
Living Memorial and the Hoyt Arboretum. Or, you may choose to
spend time visiting the Portland Art Museum, the Oregon Museum of
Science and Industry or the Oregon Historical Society Museum. If you
decide not to visit any attractions, we can spend some time visiting
neighborhoods of Portland such as the up and coming Pearl District,
the Hawthorne District, the NW Nob Hill area and the Rose Quarter
with the Oregon Convention Center and the Rose Quarter Arena.
Prices for attractions gladly provided upon request.
The tour includes door-to-door transportation and the interpretive services of your ecotour guide. Entrance fees to some attractions are extra. Please call to discuss the attraction(s) you may be interested in.
